| • Express Digital Darkroom Web Edition Users only!!? |
|
Can someone please explain to me how to archive my photos to a cd using the web edition? I cant figure it out. When I choose my photos and then click print to cd it prompts me to choose an item to fullfill.
|
| • What is the best encoding method for archiving high quality videos.? |
|
I have a digital video camera and want to archive all the tapes. Raw format is way too big. I can make DVDs of all the videos, but I've heard that this is an inferior encoding method to MP4.
It's for archiving, so I'm looking for a standard format that will be supported and available in the future (so something like DivX is a bit sketchy), something that will preserve the high quality, and will compress the videos as much as possible.
I can keep the tapes, but the tapes are Digital8, not exactly a standard format. Playing the tapes rely on working hardware years from now, something that isn't very likely. I don't even think you can buy a Digital8 camcorder these days. Ten years down the road if my old camcorder breaks I'm out of luck! It is much more desirable to have an archived version stored in computer format which can be copied and played well into the future.
Of course the video will loose some quality when compressed. This is the whole basis of my question. I want an encoding method that gives reasonable compressions while maintaining as much quality as possible.
My videos are currently in RAW, uncompressed format. They are huge. Current hard drive or DVD camcorders don't even store video in RAW format. They compress it using MP4 or something similar. If I were to use an encoding method similar to hard drive camcorders I would expect high quality videos at a much smaller size.

| • Where can I get info on the digital Revolution? |
|
I need to put together a short presentation on the digital revolution. The point of the presentation is: Everything is going, or has gone digital: Music; film; archives; photos; and so on... I live in the digital world... but where can I go to get some statistic and persuasive facts?
yeah... Google. Sure. In that case, answer THIS question: Why do we have this website if we have Google. Something more substantial please. This is a tough question... I challenge you.

| • What do you think of the concept for Mr. Lif's next album "I Heard It Today"? |
|
The voice of the people is back!!! Mr. Lif returns with more cutting edge political commentary in his new series titled I Heard It Today. Presented in a completely unprecedented manner, Mr. Lif will write and release 1-2 songs every three weeks until Election Day (November 4), following which Mr. Lif will release one more single based on his post electoral thoughts. This single will preface the release of the I Heard It Today (Bloodbot Tactical Enterprises) full length on Inauguration Day (January 20, 2009). The album will feature additional unreleased tracks and corresponding artwork.
Mr. Lif has his hands on the pulse of American society as he rhymes uncompromisingly about important issues that currently affect us. We are looking toward perhaps the most anticipated administration change in American history, and I Heard It Today boldly holds a mirror to the face of the society we have created and perpetuated. As one of the most versatile voices in the game, Mr Lif has enlisted some of hip-hops most talented producers (J Zone, Edan, and Illmind, among others) to create awareness on current political issues and agendas for Americans and the global community.
Mr. Lif adds, "With a new administration on the horizon, many of us are hoping things will change for the better. We are all hoping our voices will be heard and our concerns met with solutions. This project allows me to voice and magnify the all too often ignored opinions of the American people. My research has led me to speak with so many citizens nation wide, and the stories of your struggles combined with the knowledge of my own struggles have given birth to the project now known as I Heard It Today. "
In addition, Mr. Lif will be issuing regular "Presidential Reports" commenting on recent events in national and world politics. "The Presidential Report, Vol. 1" tackles tension between Obama and McCain and the recently erupted conflict between Russia and Georgia, and can currently be heard on Mr. Lif's MySpace page (www.myspace.com/mrlif). Stay tuned as more "Presidential Reports" are sure to follow, connecting the dots between each new installment of I Heard it Today.
AllHipHop.com will host exclusive streams of the tracks one day prior to release. They will then become available to fans worldwide, via The Orchard, through hundreds of digital music store and wireless carriers, including HipHopSite.Com. (Press Release)

@ Bonnie...sure I'll post the tracks as they're released

| • Does anyone know where I can buy/read cheap Golden Age comics? |
|
I am particularly interested in the Human Torch and other Marvel and DC superheroes but any genre outside of heroes intrest me. Horror, Crime, War, etc.
All Masterworks and Archives are like $50 each. I cant afford that so any other help would be appreciated. Weather digital or otherwise.

| • Manipulating Light? |
|
This is kind of a technical question, but I hope others might learn something as well.
If you have ever seen black and white fine art photography, you'll notice that the lighting is perfect. Perfect contrast, and beautiful exposure. However, I was wanting to ask, what is the best way to bring in enough light to achieve such lighting conditions? What is used, natural, or artificail light? Here are some examples that I have found online: http://www.ralphgibson.com/archive/
If natural light is used, what is the best way to capture it? What I mean is should I use high ISO, slow shutter speed, a wide aperture.... Does film seem to capture light better than digital? Thanks for any advice.

I'm looking into flow cytometer analysis programs for the PC and I was
wondering whether anyone had any insight into which programs were the
most useful and worthwhile. From what I have seen, Flow-Jo and
FCSexpress are the more commonly used PC programs. Does anyone have
any experience with either of these programs? The other option would
be to purchase another Macintosh and use CellQuest. Advice, comments,
suggestions?

You can use Summit from Dako is free and gives you the possibility to
do offline compensation. However, the best flow cytometry software is
FlowJo. There is a PC (Java based) and a Mac version. The Mac version
for the moment is quite better.

I'm not a PC person, but am an ardent flow person. My flow friends
with PCs swear by WinMidi, which is free. If you Google for free flow
cytometry software, you'll come to 2 sites, one at UMass, one at
Scripps. Lots of free analysis software for the PC, maybe because BD
relied on Macs for so long.

As an update, I tried trial versions of FCSexpress and FlowJo and
wasn't really happy with either of them compared to Cell Quest. I
found FCSexpress almost impossible to work with. FlowJo was alright,
but I don't think I had the time to really get the software down.
Anyone know if BD ever plans to put out CellQuest on PC?

Don't quote me, but I do believe that CellQuest is available for PC
because the newer BD flow cytometers are digital and use PCs for
acquisition. Mlinde, have you ever tried WinList or WinMidi? Both of
those were written for PCs. Also WEASEL comes in PC and Mac versions.
Did you read the flow perspectives? There is a software discussion

Flow Cytometry Plus Microscopy
"The visualpower of microscopy plus the statistical rigor of flow
cytometry rolled into 1 package." That's the company's tag line. And
they deliver.
LOVETHELAB?************
I'm a BD flow lover, a confirmed Mac user (I tell everyone "I don't do
Windows"). So why am I touting a machine made by Amnis that requires
Windows? Because this instrument goes above and beyond mere flow
cytometry- it shows you every event (that's cell to non-flow users) in
detail. I used it and I am sold. It takes a single experiment now to
do intracellular localization, in place of two. A simpler caspase
activation assay. What's not to love? Even the computer quandary is
solvable (the one feature I'd change: I'd have it run off a Mac) -
with an Intel Mac; just get Parallels software, install Windows, and
you are good to go, or rather, run. And the ImageStream can run off
an Intel Mac this way too. I bought an Intel iMac just for analysis.
Installation of Parallels was easy, IDEAS is about as intuitional as
any flow software package. And Amnnis reps bend over to be helpful.
Don't let the price tag scare you; rather, help write a shared-
instrument grant (we did) for your institution to get one. It is
simply amazing.

I'm looking into flow cytometer analysis programs for the PC and I
was
wondering whether anyone had any insight into which programs were the
most useful and worthwhile. From what I have seen, Flow-Jo and
FCSexpress are the more commonly used PC programs. Does anyone have
any experience with either of these programs? The other option would
be to purchase another Macintosh and use CellQuest. Advice, comments,
suggestions?

You can use Summit from Dako is free and gives you the possibility to
do offline compensation. However, the best flow cytometry software is
FlowJo. There is a PC (Java based) and a Mac version. The Mac version
for the moment is quite better.

I'm not a PC person, but am an ardent flow person. My flow friends
with PCs swear by WinMidi, which is free. If you Google for free flow
cytometry software, you'll come to 2 sites, one at UMass, one at
Scripps. Lots of free analysis software for the PC, maybe because BD
relied on Macs for so long.

General Flow Cytometry Resources
Purdue University Cytometry Laboratory
Website
Start learning about flow cytometry on the web at this site. The most
comprehensive flow cytometry and analytical cytology website I have
found. You will find resources ranging from archived protocols to
request forms for the latest protocols CD-ROMs - and they are free
while supplies last. Job listings, meetings, journals, latest
developments- it is all here.
Lectures
Website
Dr. J. Paul Robinson, Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine,
has put a compilation of lec-ture slides on a website. Some of the
information is bullet statements, but the pictures are great. If
you've never seen a flow cytometer, you'll see lots of them here. If
you are new to flow, you'll find in-troductory slides here.
Practical Flow Cytometry, Fourth Edition by Howard Shapiro, published
by J. Wiley & Sons, 2003.
Website
Dr. Shapiro has kindly put his textbook online through Molecular

all you need to do, and you have access forever.
Flow Cytometry E-mail Discussion Group
Website
Have a question? Novices to experts, all levels of questions are
welcome. This e-mail group has been invaluable to me. E-mails are
archived and can be searched by topic.
International Society for Analytical Cytology
Website
The premier society for flow cytometry, it publishes Cytometry Parts A
and B (Clinical Cytometry), Case Studies in Clinical Flow Cytometry,
and Current Protocols in Cytometry. These are available on-line, but
you must be subscribed for access. Regular dues are US $126; fees are
deeply dis-counted for students, post-doctoral fellows, and scientists

National Flow Cytometry Resource, Los Alamos National Laboratories
Website
Where the cutting edge happens. NFCR runs a course every June that

to build your own flow cytometer, if you are so inclined.
FlowCyte

This discussion group is dedicated to flow users interested in
developing uniform bioinformatics standards. They are also developing

| • What's the best de-clicker / audio restoration software for archiving my vinyl collection? |
|
I'm planning to convert my entire vinyl collection to a digital audio format.
Firstly, what's the best uncompressed digital audio format to use (please dont even mention MP3 as it's just not good enough) ?
Secondly, what's the best, reasonably easy to use, audio restoration software for the task. I just need something to de-click and pop the files once in the digital domain.
Update:
I've been looking at some software called iZotope RX.
http://www.ozonemp.com/products/audio/rx/
Although expensive (well around $349 or £177 ), its an awesome piece of kit.
If you are interested, watch the online video demo's at their site.
http://www.ozonemp.com/support/videos.asp
I particularly like the way you use the interface, and how easy it is to actually remove a particular sound from the background. It really is amazing.
If anyone has any specific experience with iZotope RX, I'd appreciate some feedback (no pun intended!)
Thanks for your replies so far.

•In an effort to show what a loser/how lonely a character is, they come home and go to the answering machine and instead of reading the digital # readout like we all do, they press the button and we hear the female voice announce “You have no messages.”
•Person being chased reaches car or home. Door is locked, retrieves keys and drops them.
•One character has something important to say, something that will change everything but when they are about to say what they need to say, the other person will interrupt but then will say, “Sorry, go ahead.” But will be told “No, you go ahead.” And as a result, whatever it is the other person says will result in main character not saying what they were about to say. Even worse if afterwards the other person says, “I’m sorry, you were going to say something.”
•If the driver is speaking to the passenger, they will spend an impossibly long time staring at the passenger instead of at the road. Somehow they NEVER rear end the car in front of them.
•“I could tell you, but I’d have to kill you.” Seriously, can everyone PLEASE agree to delete this phrase from our collective consciousness?
•The person who notices some wet substance on the ground or wherever and bends down to run a finger through it, look at the finger (often rubbing two fingers together) and usually realize it’s blood.
•If you’re a woman and there is a killer on the loose, just take a relaxing bath and he will find you.
•If a person with important information to reveal tells the detective to come by at such and such a time and he will tell him all the info, he will be dead when the detective arrives.
•If a person good person dies with his eyes open, a friend will close them, and they will remain closed. If a villain dies with his eyes open, no one will close them, and the camera will linger on his face.
•All characters keep detailed newsclippings of important events in their lives, particularly those events that must be painful to recall, such as the loss of the character’s immediate family due to their own negligence. NB: If the news report would have come out while the character was in jail or on the run, all the more reason for the character to have kept it intact.
•If a person’s clothes get snagged on something, they tear very easily and leave a large, noticeable chunk behind. The Person trying to not be found never seems to realize this has occurred.
•If the movie is animated, one of the kid’s parents will be dead. This is almost always the mother.
•If there are three or more sisters in the movie, one of the sisters will be extremely neurotic and married to a lawyer/doctor/shrink, one will be single and looking for love (the lead) and one will be a mother with at least two kids (a boy and a girl or two girls, never two boys).
•Every sword/knife pulled from a holder always makes a metal against metal sound
•All movie mothers will prepare a breakfast, usually consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. Dad and the kids will invariably arrive at the table 30 seconds before Dad has to leave for the office and the kids have to catch the school bus. Each will have time only for a sip of coffee/juice and/or one bite of toast. There must be enough food left over in these homes to feed a third world nation!
•Beverages are served either half full or completely empty (especially coffee).
•Coffee is never served steaming hot unless it is for comedic reasons
•When a helicopter is hit by a bullet or rocket, it’ll explode immediately if it contains a villain, but if the hero is on board, it will loose power, smoke will come out of the doors, and it’ll just reach the ground in time for the hero to get clear then duck just at the moment it explodes.
•Whenever a hero enters a dark room where he feels confident in being alone, someone (villain) will be sitting in a chair waiting for hero to turn on the lights before speaking. Sometimes intruder will be the one to turn on the light.
•The hero will always refuse the assistance of friends or medical personnel after a fight. If the hero gets into a second fight, his most injured body part will always be punched or kicked.
•A hero will show no pain even during the most terrific beating, yet he will wince if a women attempts to clean a facial wound.
•The bad guy has the good guy in his sights, his trigger finger poised to squeeze off a life-ending round. A shot rings out, and we shudder—but the hero does not fall. As he frantically checks his body for the mortal wound he must have sustained, a dazed look overcomes the villain’s face, and he slumps to the floor. Then, and only then, the camera reveals a gun-toting savior who blew away the baddie before he could kill our protagonist.
•Like above, only hero and villain are in a life and death struggle with gun, it goes off, who got hit? The same with a struggle over a knife. Any close up struggle with a pointy object will result in death.
•Walking toward the camera in slow motion as a massive explosion happens in the background, without flinching, and miraculously not being hit by any shrapnel
•In a scary movie, if someone is looking in the refrigerator for a late night snack, when they close the refrigerator/freezer door, the killer will be standing there OR a friend/parent will be standing there, startling them.
•Surprise cat appearances. Almost always shrieking for no good reason.
•Character in vehicle, glances in rear view mirror, nothing suspicious, character reaches for something (radio), sits back up, eyes go back to rear view mirror, killer’s eyes looking back.
•Character stepping lightly past killer’s body only to have him reach out and grab their ankle
•Any movie in New Orleans takes place during Maudi Gras
•The super-sped up cityscape. This scene requires shots of a moving and setting sun, buildings lighting up, and people zipping around.
•Eight to ten-year-old kids are the best computer hackers on earth and can break into any system.
•Anytime anybody picks up pieces of a broken glass they will ALWAYS cut their finger. They will also always suck their breath in through their teeth and stick the injured finger in their mouth.
•When someone, usually the hero, appears to be shot fatally but a few minutes later, when the camera goes back to them -What’s This!- they aren’t dead after all. They will ALWAYS groan, reach up with both hands and rip open their shirt (nobody cares about buttons in the movies!) revealing the –SHOCKER!- bullet-proof vest (even though the obvious bulge from a bullet-proof vest was never visible under their clothes in the previous scene). They will then pluck the bullet from the indentation, stare at it and drop it to the ground. Occasionally the person will do something that defies all reason; they will REMOVE THE VEST and go after the bad guy. Because, as everyone knows, when a bullet-proof vest takes a hit or two they are rendered useless. Again, I have two words for all bad guys: HEAD SHOT!
•When ever a person is being chased on foot, regardless of the time of year or city, there will be some sort of parade to try and loose your pursuer in.
•Any time a secret tracking device is used so the bad guy can track the good guy, the tracking device will have a blinking red light AND when the camera gets a close up we can hear it beeping. An AUDIBLE secret tracking device? Really? See Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.
•When the power plant/missile site/whatever overheats, all the control panels will explode, as will the entire building.
•When the tech guy is given a blurry, extremely pixilated part of an image (i.e. license plate) and they are able to clear it up to crystal clear, easily readable condition
•Making hacking look cool by making the computer’s mainframe look like some sweet virtual world of colorful corridors and cubes you need to click on.
•If it’s a tavern in a western, some grizzled old f*ck will spit tobacco juice in response to our hero entering.
I have a site archiving every movie cliché I could think of/find at:

Please feel free to stop by and if you can think of one I haven’t listed, there is a section at the bottom of each category to leave a suggestion.
Enjoy!

| • Do you know how to change your surname? |
|
I found an amazing service. Christ, there are so many Deed Poll providers out there - some are excellent but there prices are unbelivable.. Within 3hrs I got a the free e-copy and the next morning the original copy came in the post. you even get a free certified copy and a free digital archive service.. i couldnt believe the price £10!!! well, its £11.50 actually cos of the 17.5% add on. A service of this calibre makes you wonder how the other Deed Poll companies can justify there prices. Oh, and they have this talking host on the site - she looks so real - and very attractive too.

| • Magenta halo? Image information.? |
|
http://www.howdylicious.com/archives/Mart%20knife.jpg
Hi, please help me understand the magenta halo around this lady in the image, I see it on the skin tone a bit also. Is it digital fringing? Is it due to the image being compressed for internet viewing? Is it from a transparency that has "bleed" or some exotic processing?
Also if you can identify the model or photographer or shed any light on the image much appreciated.
Is it from the shoot? I see it in the shadow also? A gelled light maybe?

| • Why the American Government doesn`t respect Absolut`s freedom of speech? |
|
http://www.cnnexpansion.com/blogs/capital-digital/archive/2008/04/07/absolut-a-historia
American people got mad with this Absolut ad.
American Government told Absolut Vodka (a SWEDISH company) to retire this ad in MY country MEXICO.
Isn`t it supposed that America defends freedom all over the world?Or it is just an hyprocrital speech?
Besides that, it is true what is told in that ad. California, Texas, Arizona and Nevada were part of Mexico. It´s just history.
Besides I LOVE Absolut vodka
Greetings from Mexico City
Oh I forgot it. The publiscist is Frech. Your governmet is supposed to respect Swedish, Mexican and French People!!
Which lie Scarlett?
I agree. Absolut isn`t the best vodka. I prefer Stolichnaya, Grey Goose or Van Gogh. Neverthless Absolut isn´t bad and I grew up drinking Absolut Vodka.
Yes, I think I should post an American link
http://iht.com/articles/ap/2008/04/05/america/LA-GEN-Mexico-US-Absolut-Ads.php
I don´t mind about California or New Mexico. I have better things to think about, I am not ultra-patriotic, I don´t hate Americans and yes, it is yours. But it´s annoying that your government stick its nose where it is not called.
Besides, as I have said, it is just history, we are not planning to recover those territories.

| • What benefits or risks will a Digital Presidency bring? |
|
In my essay "The coming Digital Presidency" http://mathoda.com/archives/189 I discuss how Internet tools like social networks could be used by a sitting President to reach supporters and potentially all citizens not just to get a message out but to get feedback on upcoming policy positions. I can see that Internet tools might reform how government policy gets created, but what are the real benefits and risks that may result?

| • Paperless Documentation Processes? |
|
I work for a small community bank in Pennsylvania. As an organization, we're looking to implement new processes that will allow us to process new accounts, account modification requests and so forth without the need for paper. We would like to take documents straight from their digital environment, put them along a workflow, and when finished archive them.
We are currently using imaging to archive all of our reports, Check Images and so forth. We would like to continue using this, but expand our methods of putting data into it. Where at present we do a lot of scanning, we should instead just be able to import that data.
Does anyone out there use processes for working paperless? What software solutions have you invested in? Would it be possible to tour your office to better understand the paperless process and what requirements go into it?
Thanks a lot,
Eric
Thank you for the definition of a Paperless office. Despite how thoroughly your article describes it, this unfortunately does not help in determining the proper direction to go to pursue our processing documents in a paperless way.
Thank you for your answer though!

| • How do you organize your writings? |
|
I've more than 750 pieces of writing to date and about 80% are typed entries on the computer. I want to have hard copies of those writings, but try imagine the number of papers that's gonna be used! It's just frustrating for me... to organize this unsorted collection of writings. I've thought about digital archive (to keep the files as word documents and store them in a CD), but wasn't sure enough to do that... (call me old-fashioned, I don't want to sit in front of a computer all day for reading!)
Thanks to all for your helpful answers!
Sarah, my fear for CDs is that they aren't re-writable. I do have one USB drive but it's filled already with my digital artworks. I organise writings chronologically. So for instance I've got everything written in 2007 in one Word file, the same goes for this year, etc. I'll consider the USBs. (though it's likely that I'll print them one day) Thanks everyone! :)

| • What type of lighting would be required for basic portraiture & the soft smooth look of the model portfolios? |
|
I have include pics of the type of model pictures I would like to do. Please be as specific as possible. I would like to know the most efficient for the prices, my budge is hopefully around $500, I have a 7.2 mega-pixel digital camera. On my portrait I would like to get just the natural looking photos. On my portfolios I would like to get that almost fake look, after digital enhancements. Here are some links:

http://girlstalkinsmack.com/cutenews/data/upimages/topmodel_winnershoot_eva.jpg
When I say fake, I mean that smooth, vibrant colored, commercial, editorial, high-fashion, look. The kind of photos you'd see in a spread of a magazine.

| • What should I look for when buying a computer used for graphic design? |
|
The computer must be able to run Microsoft Office '07. I will be using this for basic graphic design work, to edit and store short video clips, store archives of digital photos and to create multimedia presentations. Can anyone reccomend a computer or suggest what I should look for when shopping?
|
| • What's the best way to build this form for my users? |
|
We have a form that we distribute to the different divisions to make purchase requests. When I originally did the form I made two versions: a publisher document that they could fill in and print out and a PDF version that would do the same thing but it would also calculate totals and because the only thing they could enter was form data they couldn't mess up the placement of the tables.
Now it seems there are users who want to be able to save the forms but want the ease of the PDF calculated fields and fixed tables. So I'm thinking that maybe a database would best accomplish this. Problem is doing calculations in Access is a royal pain and I haven't even gotten to how the output form data needs to look like the original form.
Is there a better way to convert a form to a digital format that 1) Can be filled in on the computer, 2) Calculate values from different fields and 3) Archive data to be retrieved later?

| • Western Digital Raptor Serial ATA 1.5 vs SATA 3.0? |
|
Ok my question has nothing to do with the performance of the Raptor, RAID, or Hard Drive RPM. On compatability with motherboards I'm wondering how the SATA 1.5 and SATA 3.0 work. Do the board slots for SATA1.5 and SATA 3.0 look the same and the hard drive has a different transfer rate or are there different slots with different rates?
I'm building a high-end gaming machine with the WD 150gig Raptors in a RAID config, and a variable transfer rate 1Terra drive for a massive archive I run off the computer. I need the Raptors because I run a series of games and developement programs that rely on faster retrieval times from the hard drives more than they do the size of the RAM.
Windows Vista 64 bit
3.0ghz Core Duo Processor
4GB Ram (2x2g set)
1300GB HD space (WD Raptor 150GB-10000rpmx2, WD Caviar 1TB-5200-7200RPMx1)
BFG Nvidia 8800GTX

This act, signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson on July 2, 1964, prohibited discrimination in public places, provided for the integration of schools and other public facilities, and made employment discrimination illegal. This document was the most sweeping civil rights legislation since Reconstruction.
In a nationally televised address on June 6, 1963, President John F. Kennedy urged the nation to take action toward guaranteeing equal treatment of every American regardless of race. Soon after, Kennedy proposed that Congress consider civil rights legislation that would address voting rights, public accommodations, school desegregation, nondiscrimination in federally assisted programs, and more.
Despite Kennedy’s assassination in November of 1963, his proposal culminated in the Civil Rights Act of 1964, signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson just a few hours after House approval on July 2, 1964. The act outlawed segregation in businesses such as theaters, restaurants, and hotels. It banned discriminatory practices in employment and ended segregation in public places such as swimming pools, libraries, and public schools.
Passage of the act was not easy. House opposition bottled up the bill in the House Rules Committee. In the Senate, opponents attempted to talk the bill to death in a filibuster. In early 1964, House supporters overcame the Rules Committee obstacle by threatening to send the bill to the floor without committee approval. The Senate filibuster was overcome through the floor leadership of Senator Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota, the considerable support of President Lyndon Johnson, and the efforts of Senate Minority Leader Everett Dirksen of Illinois, who convinced Republicans to support the bill.

| • What is the best company to convert 8mm film to digital video? |
|
I have many old 8mm film (NOT video) reels that I want to convert to digital video for viewing/editing/archiving. I want to get something resembling archival quality, but without an unlimited budget. I've noticed 2 companies online that seem competent: homemoviedepot.com-- this is cheaper-- and videoconversionexperts.com-- that offers a "hardware frame by frame" process, but is more expensive. Anyone know if this "hardware frame by frame" is actually better? Anyone have experience with either of these companies, or another company I should know about? You're help is greatly appreciated--my family's memories are dependent on this.....
